Our Story

“The Apple of Helen” was born out of a deeply personal experience and a powerful believe that survivors’ voices can inspire change. Like the golden apple in Greek mythology that sparked transformation, this organization stands as a symbol of empowerment, strength, and resilience.

Our founder, Sasha Georgiades, served in the Navy and, like far too many others, endured the silence and stigma surrounding military sexual trauma (MST). When she bravely raised her voice and reported her assault, she was met with indifference and told, “He’s a good sailor. Do you really want to ruin his career?”. In that moment, her voice was silenced, but it did not stay silent forever.

Sasha’s advocacy journey began as she spoke out nationally, appearing in media outlets like Inside Edition to demand justice and support for MST survivors. She became relentless advocate, fighting to improve systems within the military, amplify survivors’ stories, and push for legislative change.

The Apple of Helen honors that journey and the journeys of all survivors. Our organization provides trauma-informed support, resources, and a community for MST survivors, veterans, and active-duty service members. We offer a space where voices are heard, healing is prioritized, and empowerment takes root.

Just as Helen of Troy’s story changed the course of history, The Apple of Helen exists to ignite transformation — turning pain into power, silence into advocacy, and survivors into leaders.
